I love running and I’m giving away something awesome so keep reading. (Giveaway ended)
Let’s begin with a quick back story about how I got into running. It was because of a boy, who today happens to be my boyfriend. When we first started dating he was training for a half marathon, at that time running any more than a block sounded delusional to me. Why oh why would anyone want to run that many miles willingly? Upon completing his first half he asked me if I was up for running a 5K with him. I wanted to be cool and impress him so I said sure. Let’s just say the run was a little more difficult than I thought but I did finish! After that, I realized I actually enjoyed running and was interested in training for a half marathon myself. Telling you that running is addicting probably sounds weird, but it is. Runner’s high is a thing and after a while you really start to crave running. I completed my first half marathon a few years ago and have run at least one or two each year since. I also keep a log of how many miles I’ve run, and I’m pretty proud to say that I’ve run over 600 miles in the last three years.
I’m giving away a pair of Beats Solo2 On-Ear Headphones AND a Fitbit Charge HR Wristband, keep reading to learn how you can enter to win.
I figured that since running is an important part of my life I would share a few quick training tips with you. And share a couple things I use to help keep me motivated and track my progress.
First lets talk about music, music is an important part of training for me. I need loud, upbeat music to help keep me motivated while I warm up, run, and warm down. Lately, I’ve been using Beats Solo2 On-Ear Headphones to listen to my workout playlists. They are lightweight, flexible and fit comfortably over my ears so that I can take my music with me wherever I go. Their sleek design is something I like as well, after all, being into style and everything, having good looking accessories is a nice plus. Finally, I really like that I can connect the headphones via Bluetooth to my music player so I minimize cords and distractions.
Jacket, pants, socks, tank top, sports bra, shoes: Brooks // Sunglasses: Ray Ban // Ponytail holder: L. Erickson
I always do a few quick stretches before running to loosen and warm up my muscles. I don’t do anything too fancy, just sit on the ground and stretch each leg for a few seconds.
By this time I start my music, lately I’ve been listening Diplo, Skrillex and other electronic music artists. These Beats headphones produce clear and dynamic sound to where I almost feel like I’m in the middle of live concert, I love it! I stretch my arms and shoulders a bit too.
Another cool tool I’ve been using to track my workouts is the Fitbit Charge HR Wristband, it’s really awesome. It gives me automatic, continuous heart rate data and activity tracking all throughout the day and during my workouts. With the press of a button I can get up to the minute numbers on how many calories I’ve burned, how many steps I’ve taken and the distances I’ve run. Using it has definitely given me the motivation I need to push myself further every day.
I check my heart rate with the Fitbit after I’ve warmed up and decide what distance I’m going to run.
After warming up I move on to my favorite part, running! I’ve been trying to run on softer surfaces because of my knees, like tracks and fields. Another running tip, make sure you get fitted with the proper shoes. Wearing the right shoes really does make a huge difference for your run. I like to run in Brooks shoes. Cal Anderson Park in Seattle is a great place to run if you’re looking for a new spot.
For this particular workout I was running sprints along the field. Every so often I like to run sprints and challenge myself to see how fast I can run.
Finally it’s time to warm down!
I like to listen to music while I warm down and check my heart rate. Running is awesome, if you’ve ever thought about taking it up I highly recommend it! Feel free to reach out to me with your running questions on how to get started, you can leave a comment on this post or tweet me on Twitter.

Yes!!! These are the best headphones and I love your workout outfit. The louder the music the better the workout 🙂 – M.
Ooooooh girl I used to hate running. So. Much. Granted I was carrying around 60 more lbs than I am now which largely contributed to my deep hatred of running. I still don’t love it, but I love doing it – if that makes any sense. I’ve run a handful of shorter races (5K, and 8k) and even incorporated it into meeting a lifetime goal of completing a triathlon. Right now I’m working on training for a half-marathon which is something I always said I would never do, and yet…..here I am 🙂 It’s gotten easier. It’s gotten enjoyable. It’s gotten addicting for sure. More importantly it’s gotten to be necessary.
Loved the photos and the whole outfit!
Love the photos! Inspiring me not to skip working out today. What great prizes! I’ll be sure to mention you in my posts and blog if I win!
Perfect and Sea Hawks Colors!
Great post! I’ve had trouble with earbuds, so this is making me consider the on-ear headphones.
Great photos and I love your Brooks gear! I was wondering how the stripe top on stripe pants combo would look, but it’s fabulous together! I’ve been contemplating running but not sure that I could do it however, getting to wear super stylish Brooks gear certainly draws me to it 😉
entry for Beats!
I used to think people were crazy for running as well. Why would people do that? Then one day I decided I wanted to.. And now I LOVE it. I don’t run half marathons, yet. But I do run a couple miles each time. But honestly, it has nothing to do with the running. My brain has never felt so “clear” as those hours after a run. It’s so empowering to complete a run. Even more so, I love the mental and physical peace that follows!
I would love, love, love to win and start my workout! 😉
Omg. LOVE your outfit- the perfect colors! And sign me up to win some sweet running swag!
I was wondering if those headphones were good for running, good to know! And of course I would love to win a pair along with a fitbit 🙂
I would love to win this, and great blog!!
So fun! I’m working on getting back into running and miss that runner’s high. Congrats on your progress!
As a runner myself, I think your story to becoming the runner you are today is excellent. Such an inspiration to both look and feel good while doing something as important as this to stay in shape.
The headphones are a great idea!
Just started running again! I hope I crave it someday. 🙂
I love the seahawks colors and your choice of running music, Mollie 🙂 You should check out these tracks if you haven’t yet, perfect beats for running:
Lean On : dj snake / major lazer
Secrets: Tiesto & KSHMR
Younger : Seinabo Sey (kygo remix)

I’d love to win! Need some running motivation!
So cute!!!
I have been working on my health this year. Thank you for the chance to win.
I have been working on my health and would love to win. Do we make another comment when we tweet. Is it only one tweet or can we do it daily?
Cool post! I’m a beginner just getting into running, so it’s fun to see some gear a seasoned runner likes! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
I love this! Thanks for the opportunity to win these! Love the leggings and the whole outfit! Your blog is one of my favorites!
Molly congrats on your 600 miles, I unfortunately can not say the same. I’ve recently been researching different types of headphones that could help me kick-start my recovery routine. I suffered from a knee injury at the end of the last year and was out of commission for months; these headphones, and especially the Fitbit, are exactly what I need to help me kick-start my exercise routine and get back in shape.
Totally agree!! Loud and electronic! And I feel you, running has never been my strong suit but I decided at the beginning of the year that I would run a 5k next spring. Just a little but farther every day 🙂
Growing up my father would run marathons for fun and our vacations would revolve around where a marathon was being held. It turned me off from running for so long, until recently. I decided to give running another shot. So here I am attempting to train for my 1st Half Marathon- Brooklyn RnR Half Marathon in October. These headphones would be great as the ones I have right now are horrible. My go to song is Fight Song by Rachel Patton.
I love Brooks running gear. Thank you for hosting such a great giveaway!
I would love this combination to boost my workouts!
I totally understand that running high now. I was with you on “why would people want to run….on purpose.” But it’s so worth it for that post-run vibes! I just need some better workout headphones, the cords always get in the way, or the buds fall out!
Very inspired Molly! I’ve been trying to get in shape so I can do my very first half marathon. Also your gear is looking super cute, all are a must have!
So awesome! Those look incredible. I would love both for my treadmill workouts. Woot woot!!!
Love this post, Mollie! Very inspiring! I’ve been meaning to get a fitbit… loved reading your thoughts!
This is the best giveaway ever! If these awesome gadgets don’t motivate me to get my workout on, I don’t know what will. And I love the purple Fitbit Charge HR Wristband!
Girl, I NEED these headphones. You could say that right now I’m rocking a headphone as one of the earbuds doesn’t produce sound (even after applying scotch take, what gives?)! I also wouldn’t mind looking as baller as you do in these photos.
Awesome giveaway. Thank you so much 🙂 p.s. I love the workout gear. & I love listening to Hips don’t lie by Shakira when I workout!!
You inspire me to run again. It’s been 8 months since I had my baby & I feel like it’s time to get back on the grind. And those beats headphones & Fitbit would be a nice treat =)
I love that you keep a running log! What a great idea!
love your blog. hope I win:
I also fell in love with running several years ago! It is funny how once you get into the swing and rhythm of it, running becomes such a high!

My wife favors running while I prefer hiking for exercise. Both of us love music during the workout and the heart rate monitor would be a great addition.
Would love to win these headphones. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity and chance to win. Keeping up with my 6 yr old around the Seward park loop, while he bikes or scooters, and me running the trail. These could come in handy.
I have always romanticized the idea of being a runner, but have never been able to actualize that desire (I get bored too easily!). I have recently started running, and my goal is to train for a half marathon in December. Having a Fitbit would help propel my workouts and stay on top of my daily caloric intake/steps/etc. PLUS, the added bonus of the Beats headphones would be amazing, because I’m always looking for a set of headphones that won’t fall out/off while I’m working out. Love your blog post!
Love the review. I have tried the in ear wireless Beats and have been curious how the over the ear version is for running.
What’s your typical routine when doing sprints? I run regularly but sprints are often difficult for me and I would love to know how to warm up to them!
This is a great post. I really dislike running, but lately I have been tryin to get back into it.
LOVE those pants. I hate running, but love Cal Anderson for sprints & lines.
Great to see how extensive your blog has become!! Love the outfit!
I would love to win these! You’re amazing! Thank you for all the great fitness tips!
600 miles! Good for you!! I’d love to get up to 600!
Need this all! Love it – Just started working out again back in April and it feels so good.
ohhhhh girl why do u look so pretty when you run! I look like a hot mess!!!! I’ve been seeing those head phones around a ton and I think I need a pair!:) love you blog and absolutely Love what ur about!! Pick me pick me:) xo
WOULD LOVE THIS!! I have been specifically looking into the FitBit and running as well. i obtained shin-splintz back in Jr. High from sports (basketball then soccer), the different types of grounds did not mix well with me. I have recently started running, but mainly on grass or dirt. Thanks for the opportunity Mollie 🙂
I have never really been a runner myself until this past year! I started running at the gym in my college, and this summer I’ve been running multiple times a week! I was always a swimmer and dancer growing up, so running was really a foreign concept to me haha. I’m so glad I started getting into it, though! Runner’s high really is amazing, and it feels so good to be able to run farther and farther every time.
