I wrote a blog post a while ago about why I blog. When I started Mollie in Seattle, I had no idea how greatly for the better it would rock my world. I was sitting on my couch in sweat pants drinking Starbucks one night when I figured I’d try blogging. In rereading my very first blog post, I can’t help but smile. In the second paragraph I specifically touched on wanting to connect with people- blogging has been just that (it’s the Gemini in me I think). It’s rewarding to go back and see that after thousands of words written later and lots of pictures taken, blogging has become a big part of my life. As my blog comes up on being four years old (where did all the time go?) I’ve been thinking about what makes me love blogging and what I think the best part about it is.

When I got to meet one of my favorite fashion icons, Simon Doonan.

I started thinking about why I love blogging so much and what the best part about it is while I was at PoshFest in Las Vegas a couple weeks ago. If you’ve ever been to any kind of conference that’s focused on an area or topic that is of interest to you, you may be able to relate to the feelings of inspiration and excitement you feel when leaving a conference. After getting to be amongst others who are passionate about the same things as you, when you’ve made new connections and learned new things that you can go out and apply to what you’re doing- it’s a certain high that only comes every once in a while. Being at PoshFest and talking with attendees about blogging really got me thinking. Someone who was thinking about starting a blog asked me directly what my favorite thing about blogging was. Blogging has been wonderful for so many reasons, I get to write about the things I love, practice photography and try new things I might not have tried before. As I was thinking about my response, there was a brief moment where I wasn’t sure what to say. Then a light came on, the people duh. It’s the people I’ve met and the friendships I’ve formed, that’s the best part about blogging. I’ve gotten to meet so many incredibly talented people who’ve inspired me to be a better blogger, person, friend, writer, you get the idea. All the ladies mentioned in this blog post I met through blogging, they live all over the country, we’re in different time zones yet blogging brought us together- that’s pretty fantastic if you ask me.

The best thing about blogging

So if you want to know what I think the best part about blogging is, it’s the people. The friendships you form, the people you meet who you can learn from and the fun adventures you’ll get to be a part of. What do you think? Do you have a blog? What is the best part about it for you?
