Getting some sun atop the tower
Hello again from sunny Spain. I’m now writing this post from inside a castle in Girona. Yes, you read that correctly a castle, a real castle that dates back to the 11th century. Named for the stairs that take you up and down four floors, I’m inside the Castel d’Escales. The castle has a breathtaking terrace and as you walk through the front metal gates you are welcomed by a warm breeze and a sweet cocker spaniel named Bess. A top the castle tower there is an observatory where you have 360 panoramic view of the Pyrenees Mountains to where they come together with the Mediterranean coast and the border with France. A library filled with books and National Geographics dating back to 1957 and a friendly ghost who goes by the name of Hugh. I know, I’m not a travel writer or a historian, but this castle is seriously too incredible to not share. Is it ignorant to say that I don’t really feel like I’m living in real life right now? To wake up every morning to the sound of roosters, to really see the stars shine brightly at night, I kind of feel a little like a princess being here. Maybe it’s just the girl in me? Anyway, I’ve been sharing photos of this majestic place on my Twitter, Facebook and Instagram but also wanted to post photos here as well.
