I’m in Washington DC visiting some of my extended family. It’s been an eventful trip, I flew in on Friday night only to be welcomed by tornado warnings and rain like I’ve never seen before. Being from Seattle I thought I’d seen rain, until Friday.
One of the highlights of my trip out here was touring the West Wing of the White House, the Oval Office and the Situation Room. This tour was an unforgettable once in a lifetime experience, that I’ll later recall with delight; like smelling the fresh pink roses inside the Oval Office. Besides being ecstatic and nervous for this special visit, I had to figure out what to wear. For a visit to the White House I went with a blue theme and a comfortable pair of wedges.

Rewind a little, this all started with an email from my cousin asking me if I’d be interested in a tour like this and that if I was I’d need to provide my social security number, my full name, date of birth, place of birth and driver’s licence number. I guess that kind of information makes sense to surrender when you’re inside the President’s house, right?
Hung throughout all the halls of the West Wing are a few of the thousands of photos that are taken every day of the President. Among the photos displayed are photos of his beautiful family, the First Lady, visits from dignitaries and heads of state, the Vice President and various unique moments taken during their travels. The one picture that stood out to me was a photo of President Obama talking to a small group of people in his office, one of which was Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara.
This was a visit I’ll never forget, one that I’m grateful for having the opportunity to do. I have more pictures from my visit to the White House on my Facebook page, so if you’d like to see more click here.
