It’s not every day that the Seattle fashion scene is graced with the presence of someone as iconic and legendary as Diane von Furstenberg. She was in Seattle recently as part of her new fragrance tour. DVF founded in 1972 has since grown into a global luxury lifestyle brand, with full collections of ready-to-wear, swimwear, handbags, footwear, luggage, accessories, fragrance and more. DVF is known and respected for creating her timeless piece the wrap dress, which now serves as a symbol of style and power for countless generations of women.

With DVF on the set of New Day Northwest

As part of her new fragrance tour DVF came to Seattle to share with the world her new signature scent “Diane”. “Diane” is the combination of her two favorite flowers, the frangipani which grows in the pacific and the violet. The frangipani is a white flower that smells of optimism, sun, light and happiness. The violet is a distinct and delicate flower which she describes as provocative and mysterious. “In it I really have put all my knowledge, all my love, all my passion, all my wisdom and all my secrets of seduction.” explains von Furstenberg.

DVF indicates that perfume can be a weapon for women, the last accessory if you will. That fragrance is about memory and addiction, it can have a special impact on others. DVF puts careful thought into all of her designs, she wants to give women confidence in being happy with who they are.

It was such a pleasure getting to meet Diane and learn about her love of fashion and life. She is as elegant and lovely as I imagined, without question she is one of my role models. I learned that she loves Twitter too, so make sure you’re following her for all things fashionable and fabulous. Finally DVF expresses that all women should, “Be the woman you want to be.” Purchase DVF’s new fragrance “Diane” at my favorite retailer, Nordstrom.
